Biography

Pro Career:

Signed with the Cardinals as a rookie free agent on 4/26/10 and earned a spot on Arizona’s 53-man roster coming out of training camp. Released on 9/27/10 and re-signed to the practice squad on 9/28/10. Elevated from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on 10/26/10 and went on to appear in two games as a rookie.

2010: After making the team as an undrafted rookie free agent, bounced between the active roster and the practice squad, appearing in two games … inactive for the first three games of the regular season … released on 9/27 … re-signed to the Cardinals practice squad on 9/28 … re-signed to the active roster on 10/26 … inactive for the following three games: vs. TB (10/31), @ Min (11/7) and vs. Sea (11/14) … played in first career game @ KC (11/21), recording one special teams tackle … saw action on special teams but did not record any statistics vs. SF (11/29) … inactive for the final five regular season games.

 

College:

Appeared in 45 career games (18 starts) at CB, recording 109 tackles, one tackle for loss and 12 passes defensed … averaged 29.4 yards per return on 83 career kick returns with three TDs and a long of 98 yards … in 2007, led the nation by averaging a career-high 35.8 yards per kick return … started all 12 games as a senior and totaled 36 tackles, including a career-high 27 solo tackles with four passes defensed … totaled 602 yards on 26 kick returns (23.2 avg.) with a long of 48 yards … saw action in 11 games (six starts) and registered 31 tackles and four passes defensed as a junior … earned WAC Special Teams Player of the Week vs. Nevada with 241 kick return yards, including a 92-yard TD … finished the season with 908 yards on 31 kick returns (29.3 avg.) and one TD … as a sophomore, was named to numerous All-American teams after recording a career-high 930 yards on 26 kick returns (35.8 avg.) with two TDs and a career-long 98-yard return … in 2007, totaled a career-high 37 tackles and broke up three passes in 10 games played … recorded two TDs on kickoff returns and returned a blocked FG for a TD against Nevada … named WAC Special Teams Player of the Week three times … as a freshman in 2006, played primarily on special teams and in nickel and dime packages, recording seven tackles and one pass breakup in 12 games.

Full name Anthony Jefferson Jr. … did not play football until his junior year of high school … as a two-way player, helped lead West (Bakersfield, CA) High School to a 12-1 record and a section title while being named first team all-area as a DB … recorded a team-high 43 receptions for 901 yards (20.9-yard avg.) and eight TDs, the fourth most yards in Kern County … registered two carries for 53 yards, including a 38-yard TD … on defense, totaled 52 tackles, six INTs with 170 return yards and blocked two punts and six FGs.
