Biography

Pro Career: Originally selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round (205th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. Released by the Patriots on 9/4/10 and was claimed off waivers by the Buccaneers on 9/5/10. Signed a two-year contract with the Cardinals on 3/12/14 as an unrestricted free agent.

2013: Appeared in all 16 games for the third consecutive season, earning four starts (two at center, two at left guard) … made his first start of the season vs. Phi (10/13) … started the following week vs. Atl (10/20), helping the Bucs pile up 111 rushing yards on 28 attempts (4.0 avg.) … made his third start of the season four days later vs. Car (10/24), as the Bucs faced the Panthers on Thursday Night … with the Bucs trailing the Lions 14-10 in the second quarter @ Det (11/24), recovered a crucial TB fumble on a kickoff return on their own 39-yard line, allowing the Buccaneers to hold possession.

2012: Appeared in all 16 games with nine starts at center and his first four career starts at right guard … started the first four games of the season at RG before making nine starts at center in games 8-16 … started the season opener at RG vs. Car (9/9) and helped lead the way as the Buccaneers rushed for 130 yards on 36 carries in a 16-10 win over the Panthers … started at RG the following week @ NYG (9/16) … started at RG @ Dal (9/23) and recovered a fumble by QB Josh Freeman at the TB 42-yard line … saw action vs. KC (10/14) and helped the offense amass 463 yards in a 38-10 victory; Bucs rushed for 145 yards and a TD on 24 carries (6.0 avg.) while Freeman threw for 328 yards and three TDs with just one sack in 26 pass attempts … saw action the following week vs. NO (10/21) and helped the offense collect 513 total yards, the third-best single-game total in team history and the most ever in a home game; TB had 102 rushing yards and Freeman threw for 420 yards in the game … helped the offense to 416 yards @ Min (10/25), which marked the first time in franchise history that the Buccaneers recorded three consecutive games with 400+ yards offensively … made his first career start at center @ Oak (11/4) following injuries to fellow linemen, and helped the offense to 515 yards from scrimmage, the second-highest single-game total in team history … started at center and helped the Bucs post 403 yards of offense in a 27-21 OT victory @ Car (11/18); Tampa Bay rushed for 167 yards on 30 attempts (5.6 avg.) while Freeman threw for three TDs and was sacked just once in 46 pass attempts.

2011: Appeared in all 16 games for the first time in his career, including three starts at left guard … started at LG in the season opener vs. Det (9/11) … saw action in a 24-17 win on Monday Night Football vs. Ind (10/3); helped the offense finish with 466 yards and 192 rushing yards and two TDs on 36 attempts (5.3 avg.) while Freeman threw for 287 yards and a TD on 39 attempts … saw action on offense and helped the Bucs gain 420 total yards in a 26-20 win vs. NO (10/16); yardage total included 117 rushing yards and 303 passing yards from Freeman on 41 attempts without a sack … received his second start of the season vs. Chi (10/23) … started his second consecutive game and third of the season @ NO (11/6) … saw action @ GB (11/20) and helped the offense to a 455-yard performance, including 121 rushing yards on 20 attempts (6.1 avg.) and 342 passing yards.

2010: Started 11 of the 12 games he appeared in during his rookie season, with all 11 starts coming at left guard … team finished with a 7-4 record in the games he started … inactive for the first four games of the season after being acquired off waivers on 9/5 … made his NFL debut vs. NO (10/17), appearing on special teams … started his first career game the following week vs. StL (10/24), starting at LG in place of the injured Keydrick Vincent; helped the offense collect 124 rushing yards on 21 attempts (5.9 avg.) in the 18-17 victory … earned his second career start the following week @ Ari (10/31), helping the offense tie a season-high with 38 points as RB LeGarrette Blount rushed for 120 yards and two TDs on 22 attempts … helped the offense to a season-high 439 yards vs. Sea (12/26), including 208 yards rushing on just 26 attempts (8.0 avg.).

College: Started 30 of the 43 games he appeared in at North Carolina State, including five starts in 23 games at defensive tackle and 25 starts at center after switching positions prior to his junior season … played DT during his first three seasons (2005-07), including a redshirt year in 2005 where he appeared on the scout team, before switching to center for his final two seasons of eligibility … recorded 23 tackles, four sacks, 5.5 tackles for loss, a pass defensed and a forced fumble during his time on defense and 185 knockdowns, 19 TD-resulting blocks and eight downfield blocks during his two seasons on the offensive line … as a senior in 2009, named to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center and earned All-ACC second-team honors by the NFL Draft Report … switched from DT to center prior to his junior season in 2008, and despite never having played the position was named to the watch list for the Rimington Award and earned N.C. State’s Jim Ritcher Award for the most outstanding offensive lineman.

Personal: Attended University (Palm Harbor, FL) High School where he was named as the district Player of the Year by The Florida Athletic Coaches Association and earned All-Pinellas County first-team and All-Sun Coast Florida second-team honors as a senior, when he recorded 65 tackles, including eight sacks and one blocked kick … as a junior, was named all-county second-team after tallying 85 tackles and 15.0 sacks … also competed in the shot put and the discus during track season … member of the National Honor Society … holds a degree in History.
